What's Been Up?

I’ve been trying to get a new post together for a few weeks now. Every time I start, I stop. Every time I have a thought, I fail to put pen to paper (er, fingers to keys). So, here is just a short round up of what’s been up with me and what’s been on my mind over the last few weeks, and wanted to write about but didn’t:

- Caps lose in the first round of the playoffs, and effectively pull off the biggest choke job in professional sports history. Way to go! I’m convinced now more than ever that I am a jinx, and apologize to every fan of every team I like. They always lose. I contemplate becoming a Yankees, Cowboys, Ravens, Lakers, and Penguins fan, just so they will never again win.

- Brooks Laich to the rescue! Immediately following the game 7 collapse by the Caps, a mother and her daughter are stranded on the side of the road on their way home from the game with a flat tire. Caps forward Brooks Laich – the only one who scored in game 7 – is driving by and stops, offers his help, and changes their tire for them. Gets back in his truck, tells them to pay it forward and apologizes for the loss, and goes home to his family. [Insert why hockey players are better than all other athletes reference here].

- The past stings. I’ll leave that alone, for now, but just know that sometimes dealing with the past is not the smartest thing. Just leave them in the past and look forward to the future. It’s best for everyone involved. Enough said.

- Friends. I continue to be amazed by the level of people I have surrounded myself with. People who continue to amaze me by showing me the love and respect that only a real friend can. I’m very blessed.
